These healthy snacks for kids are delicious and nutritious. These snack ideas provide kids with a lot of variety at snack time and they are simple and easy to make.

Snack time is a time of day that every homemaker is well acquainted with. It seems as if our children are always growing and constantly hungry. If you are like me, it might feel like you often find yourself in a snack time rut.
We want healthy snacks to feed our kids but we don’t want to feel like we are feeding them the same thing every day. I have come up with a variety of healthy snacks for kids that are simple and easy to make. I feed my own kids this rotation of snacks and they love them.
These snacks are simple and delicious. They are natural whole foods, without being processed with added sugars and dyes. As a mom you can feel confident in feeding your little one any of these healthy snack options.
1. Fruit

Fruit is always a great healthy snack option. Because it has natural sugars most kids find it delicious. I like to add a little bit of protein to all of my kids snacks. I do this with fruit by adding a little bit of peanut butter to their apple slices or bananas. Some other fruits that are great snack options include:
- Pears
- Berries
- Kiwis
- Pineapple
2. Boiled Eggs

Boiled eggs are a great snack for kids and adults alike. Eggs are full of protein and vitamins. I make a batch of hard boiled eggs every week and store them in the fridge for a simple and easy snack throughout the week.
3. Veggies
Raw vegetables are another great healthy snack option. I usually feed my kids raw cucumbers because they are easy for my younger kids to eat as well. Adding some real salt (like Redmonds) to both boiled eggs and cucumbers provides a great source of trace minerals. Some more raw vegetable options are:
- baby carrots
- celery
- grape tomatoes
4. Cheese and Crackers

If you are looking for a simple and easy to make snack you can’t go wrong with some cheese and crackers. When you choosing crackers for your kids it is important that you choose a healthy variety made without seed oils. We purchase this brand from Jovial. They are healthy and delicious. We pair these crackers with some pieces of raw cheddar cheese. This snack option is definitely one of my kids favorites.
5. Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a great healthy food option for breakfast or snack time. I usually make enough oatmeal at breakfast so that we will have extra left over for snack time. We use the brand One Degree for our oatmeal. They make a great sprouted quick oat option. I prepare our oatmeal with some cinnamon, a little maple syrup, a scoop of peanut butter for protein and a little chopped fruit. We usually use apples or bananas. This snack option is very filling and my kids even enjoy it cold at snack time.
6. Nuts or Trail Mix
Nuts are another healthy snack for kids. This protein rich snack will keep them fuller for longer. Of course with any snack you want to make sure it’s age appropriate for your kids. I don’t feed my two year old this snack option just because I’m not quite confident in her ability to chew nuts up well. My five year old enjoys them and I will give my other younger kids a different easy to make snack.
7. Yogurt with Granola

Yogurt with granola is one of my personal favorite snacks. My husband and I eat this healthy snack as a little “dessert” after our evening meal. When choosing a yogurt for your kids make sure to get one that has zero added sugars. If I don’t make our yogurt at home I will buy a plain, whole milk Greek yogurt. Plain yogurt is slightly tart but with the granola on top there is a little bit of added sweetness that your kids will enjoy. I found a recipe for homemade granola a few years back and since then we haven’t gone back to store bought. It is seriously that good! The recipe I use is from Farmhouse on Boone and you can find it HERE.
8. Sourdough Bread with Butter and Honey

Sourdough bread is another healthy snack option. I haven’t met a kid yet who doesn’t enjoy a good piece of bread. If you can make or purchase sourdough bread this is a good option. The fermentation makes the bread easier to digest. I always like to top my kids bread with either a protein like peanut butter or a healthy fat like butter in the picture above. As a special treat I will drizzle a little raw honey on top.
I hope this list of healthy snacks for kids will help with any decision fatigue you might feel at snack time as the homemaker of your home. Your kids will love these simple and easy to make snacks. Comment below and let me know your favorite healthy snacks. I am always looking for another simple snack to add to the rotation.
