Why are there always those tasks, that though they are so simple, we always seem to have to google how to do them?

For me, boiling eggs was always one of those tasks. Do you put them in the water before it heats up? How long do you boil them to make sure the yolks are cooked? So many questions and I could never remember all of the answers without a little help from google, until…

I started boiling eggs in my Instant Pot!

This super simple process was a game changer. There is no more googling all of my questions. Just one simple process with delicious results. Here are the simple steps so that you too can have perfect boiled eggs every time. If you don’t own an Instant Pot I HIGHLY recommend them. I cook so many things in mine from homemade yogurt to roast. It is definitely a multipurpose appliance.

1. Add Water

First put approximately one cup of water in the pot of your Instant Pot. This doesn’t have to be exact.

2. Add trivet and eggs

Next, place the metal trivet in your Instant Pot and place your eggs on top. I always try to spread them out evenly so that the heat is evenly dispersed. I usually cook about half a dozen eggs at one time.

Once all of your eggs are safely situated you can place the lid of your Instant Pot on top and secure it in place.

3. Set the Timer

Next you will select the Pressure Cook button and set the timer for 5 minutes. The pressure will begin to fill in your pot and the timer will count down.

After the cook time is finished, you will leave your eggs in the Instant Pot to continue cooking until the pressure valve on the top of your machine releases or falls down. Mine usually falls around the 8-10 minute mark. I usually go and complete a short task around the house and come back to my eggs a little later. This isn’t such an exact process that you have to sit and watch your pressure valve until it falls.

4. Place Eggs in Ice Bath

Once the pressure valve has fallen you can remove the lid of your Instant Pot and place your eggs in an ice bath.

I usually leave my eggs in the ice bath for 10-15 minutes. After they are completely cooled I dry them off and place them in a container in the fridge to enjoy later.

Do these eggs peel easily?

Yes! I have had great success with peeling my eggs when I use this method. Just make sure you wait to peel them after they have completely cooled.

How do you eat hard boiled eggs?

Eggs are a wonderful source of protein. They are considered a complete protein and therefore are great food to incorporate into your diet. Boiled eggs can be incorporated into a variety of dishes. Some ideas include:

  • Egg salad
  • Deviled eggs
  • Sliced on a garden salad

My kids love to eat them plain. You can check out how we eat them as a snack as well as some other healthy snack ideas HERE.

There you have it! A simple and easy way to make hard boiled eggs in your Instant Pot that yields great results every time! Let me know if you tried this method and how you enjoy eating your hard boiled eggs. I hope you enjoy!
