Find comfort in five uplifting scriptures to help renew the weary homemaker’s spirit. Find comfort and feel refreshed in your role as homemaker.

Have you every experienced seasons of your life as a homemaker when you just feel weary? You might feel worn down physically or mentally, or maybe you just feel as if your normal routine is off. Often times the tasks of a homemaker can become mundane and monotonous.
At the end of your day do thoughts flood your mind about all of the tasks you didn’t accomplish? Do you worry that your children aren’t learning enough or at the “level” that everyone says they should be? Is that same cobweb in the corner that you meant to clean yesterday and the day before that? Don’t feel ashamed, we have all been there are some point in our homemaking journey.
I recently experienced one of these weary seasons as a homemaker. While my children were napping, I decided to take a shower. I was feeling quite inadequate in my role as homemaker and weary in my spirit. With tears and hot water streaming down my face, the truth of God’s Word began to flood my mind. I had a mindset shift by meditating on some of my favorite uplifting scriptures.
Uplifting Scriptures to Meditate On
I want to share some of these scriptures with you, my fellow homemakers. Maybe you are in one of these seasons or possibly might find yourself in one in the near future. These scriptures are truths that can provide hope and encouragement in all seasons. Spend some time this week meditating on these truths.
And you are complete in Christ… Colossians 2:10
This Scripture has the ability to bring instantaneous peace to my heart. Even in the seasons when I am not “getting it all done.” I can rest in the fact that everything that matters has already been done in Christ. My salvation and position in Christ as my Savior is complete.
Paul tells us in Ephesians, that it is by grace we are saved, through faith and that not of ourselves. How glorious a thought, in the midst of our role as homemakers, when we feel overwhelmed with all the tasks. In Christ, we are COMPLETE and there is no task, obligation or work that must be done. He did it all for us.
All things that really matter were completed on the cross. In first Corinthians 15:3-4 it says, For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7
How often as homemakers can our minds get away from us? Whether its worrying about the next task to complete or our children’s health and safety, there is always something on our minds. Unfortunately our minds often battle anxiety and anguish. In Christ this isn’t how we have to live. We can live in the peace of God because of His promise that He will keep our hearts and mind.
What a wonderful promise we have as believers, that we have the mind of Christ. His mind is one of humility and servant-hood, which is definitely the mindset and perspective we need as homemakers. Another promise I love in this verse is that we can bring all of our supplications to Christ. No matter the simplicity or complexity of a situation we can bring everything to the Lord in prayer.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
This is probably one of my favorite scriptures, not just as a homemaker but as a believer. Fear is often a part of our lives no matter if you are a homemaker or not. Confidence can be found in knowing God has not given us a spirit of fear to live under bondage but that he has given us power and love in Him and a sound mind. A sound mind means one that is entire; unbroken; not shaky, split or defective, it’s whole, entire and founded in truth. How powerful is that! I love it.
In order for our minds to be strong and founded in truth we must saturate it with God’s word. We should study God’s word every chance we get. This is how we are filled with the Spirit. The opportunities to consume God’s word are plentiful. We can study on our own, as a family and with our children. As a mother one of my greatest desires for my children is that they trust the gospel and develop a sound mind as they grow. The only way this is possible is through God’s word.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Oh, the beautiful promise that God’s grace is sufficient in all circumstances. This is an uplifting scripture! In life there are many uncertainties but one thing we know for certain is that we will all encounter suffering at some point in our lifetimes. If we allow our minds to dwell on the “what ifs” our spirits will be full of overwhelm.
There is much greater peace in resting in the promises of God knowing that no matter the situations in our earthly life, His grace is enough. In my role as wife and mother there are often times when I feel weak and inadequate but what a promise to know that in my weakness I am stronger than ever in Christ, because in these moments all reliance is on Him.
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Titus 2:4,5
You may not consider this passage an uplifting scripture but I hope to shift your perspective. When I read these verses I am encouraged that God has called me to be the homemaker and gatekeeper of my home. He instructs the older women to teach the younger women all of these traits and roles. I might not be perfect but this scripture teaches us that we can learn, better ourselves and grow daily in our role. To me, this is encouraging news.
Not all of my days look like the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. However, with the promises of God’s word, other wise counsel around me and me striving to better myself each day, God can work through me to minister to others.
I hope these uplifting scriptures have been an encouragement to you. During your days of weariness as a homemaker, take hope in knowing you are complete in Christ. Live in His peace and be confident that Christ has given you the capacity to fulfill every aspect of your role as homemaker.
