The beauty of homeopathic medicine is that it is the people’s medicine. It is safe and effective. It is powerful and it empowers you as the caretaker of your home to care for your family. There are many common illnesses or first aid situations that can be addressed with homeopathy. A mother or grandmother who devotes some time to some study and research can learn a lot about homeopathic medicine.

If you are new to homeopathy check out my Homeopathy Basics post HERE. If you are familiar with homeopathy and would like to learn more check out my article First Aid for Kids- Homeopathic Remedies that Every Mom Needs.

Mothers can and should feel empowered to care for their families but what should be done when faced with a situation that is beyond your current homeopathic knowledge? You may want to reach out to a trusted homeopathic doctor near you but where do you begin?

With this post I will provide you with several different options of how to contact a homeopathic doctor. There are several consult options to choose from both in person or online. You can choose whichever option fits you and your family best. I will also share different types of homeopathic doctors, those who practice classical homeopathy as well as those who practice practical homeopathy.

What is a Classical Homeopath?

A classical homeopath follows the principles of classical homeopathy. Classical homeopathy is based on the principles of the founder of homeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann. There are four principles that classical homeopathy follows. They are:

  • The Law of Similars or “like cures like.” This is the principle that a substance that can make a healthy person sick can also make a sick person well, if they are suffering from a similar type illness.
  • The Law of Minimum Dose – This is the principle that the minimum dose of medicine be given that will initiate a healing response in the body.
  • Totality of Symptoms – this means that when diagnosing a person a classical homeopath will look at the whole person. They will look at mental, physical and emotional symptoms.
  • The Principle of Single Remedy – this means that only one type of homeopathic medicine is given to a patient at one time.

What is a Practical Homeopathy?

Practical homeopathy focuses on the symptoms of a person. There are certain remedies are known to help particular symptoms, in a majority of people. most of the time. These remedies, often known as poly-crest remedies are frequently used first in practical homeopathy if I person is presenting the particular symptom that that remedy is known for. With practical homeopathy several people presenting the same symptoms could be given the same remedy. Whereas, with Classical homeopathy these same people might all be prescribed different remedies. Protocols are often used in practical homeopathy as well.

1. NASH – North American Society of Homeopaths

The North American Society of Homeopaths is a great place to start your search for a classical homeopathic doctor. They evaluate the competency and educational standards of the doctors registered on their site. They have a search field directly on their site. This allows you to search homeopathic doctors in both Canada and North America. I suggest you search by your state and not narrow down as far as your zip code.

2. NCH – National Center for Homeopathy

The National Center for Homeopathy is another option to help locate a homeopathic doctor near you. Their directory has homeopaths that practice homeopathy exclusively as well as other practitioners who incorporate homeopathic medicine into their practice. A nice feature of their site is that they tell you how the practitioners offer consultations. Their doctors provided consults online, by phone, in person or all three.

3. Joette Calabrese – The Academy of Practical Homeopathy

If you are familiar with the homeopath, Joette Calabrese, then you have probably heard about her method of practical homeopathy. Several years ago she created an academy in which people could become certified in the method of practical homeopathy. There have been several groups of Alumni since the Academy began and they are now practicing all over the world. A search field on their site allows you to search and find those located close to your area.

4. Homeopathy Twenty-Four-Seven

If you are looking for a online option with immediate access to a Homeopathic Doctor, then Homeopathy 24/7 is great. They promise a Worldwide Homeopathic Helpline open 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week.

5. Homeocare International

Homeocare International is another online Homeopathic Doctor option. Their practice is based out of India and is a worldwide option to provide access to homeopathic consultations. Their practice is a network of homeopathic hospitals, managed by homeopathic doctors.

The next time you need to find homeopathic doctors near you, I hope this post can help. Finding a great homeopathic doctor that you can trust is a great asset for you and your family. Comment below and share which homeopathic doctor you recommend.
